RUSSIAN LACQUER MINIATURE

Fedoskino lacquer miniature painting is a longstanding trade. It is more than 250 years old. The traditional technology of the papier-mache lacquer box making is maintained carefully. It is based upon the classical multilayer oil painting techniques used by the old masters - Leonardo da Vinci, Karl Brullov, Rubens... Now days, it is only Fedoskino that can boast of preserving this technique.

Centuries on experience have proven that Fedoskino boxes remain in pristine condition for many, many decades. They can become heirlooms passed from generation to generation. Moreover, one can hardly imagine a better diplomatic gift, the real Russian one to be given to foreign partners.

The theme of my miniatures vary greatly but most of all I enjoy painting portraits of real people and narrative portraits - quite a challenging task but that is why it attracts me.
