PORTRAITS

A box with a miniature portrait is an exclusive gift. For long years this heirloom will be kept in a family and passed down from generation to generation. A photograph is OK, no doubt about it, but a painted portrait is a piece of fine art, though.

Fedoskino masters have been painting portraits since time immemorial.

At the Soviet period portraits of political leaders and heroes of those days were produced on a mass scale. There were staff portrait painters at Fedoskino Factory.
They were given responsible commissions such as portraits of Lenin, Dzerzhinsky, Brezhnev, Yesenin the poet, Ostrovsky the writer. Nowadays any interested person can commission a portrait of not only close people, but also pets.
